HER2+ and need some buddies

@carrie5 you’ve got to wonder why some people have gone into nursing because they seem to lack a basic level of compassion. Thankfully most of the people that I’ve come across are lovely, but every so often you encounter ones like @rainbowbrite10 mentioned and want to give them a little smack upside the head.

@caz591 Happy Birthday Go celebrate
@rainbowbrite10 Yes to constructive feedback, that’s a disgrace. I recall my lovely surgeon (female) when she was busy drawing on me what they were about to do said I’ll just mark your arm outside the gown, save them peering inside all the time to check which side! Nursing staff in recovery were great too. No need for poor behaviour.

Has anyone had Nerlynx after Phesgo ended?

I asked my oncologist about Nerlynx and he said he wouldn’t recommend it. He told me if I really wanted to take it, he could refer me to another oncologist but that he doesn’t see that it would improve my long term survival.

He said that there’s not a lot of actual facts to support prescribing it since most of the research was done ages ago & not in conjunction with Phesgo or Kadcyla. He said that he mostly sees it prescribed in the US and that they’re motivated by some financial benefit as opposed to what is in the patient’s best interest.

Hello all

I think we may have found a better course for my son than the ones we had originally earmarked for 6th form so I am daring to think that this may all turn out for the best. Please pray/keep everything crossed that he gets an interview on Friday and gets to start next week. Thanks @cass2 for your reassurance from your perspective. You need to hear positive stories when in the throes of GCSE related panic. In much the same way as we need to hear positive stories when assailed by bc related panic. I know from the past couple of years that there is a huge amount of good news where breast cancer is concerned so I love that this thread is full of it to counter all the scary stuff that finds its way onto the internet. When we are in the grip of fear, somehow our minds have a tendency to go straight to the worst case scenario and looking back, all my worst fears simply didn’t come true. I think it is important that people who are newly diagnosed get a balanced perspective.

Oh @carrie5 - marshmallow hair colour sounds amazing. I am thinking of Frenchy whose hair goes pink in Grease. A pic is compulsory, by the way. :grin:

Hello to @emma-jayne and @fairycake - Surreal it is but I’m so glad you have found us. Thanks for letting us know how long it takes to read the forum as I am about to start reading it (I’ve never done it in one go) and wasn’t sure how long I should set aside. There is always someone on here who can answer questions or point you in the right direction and I’m always good for a waffle about entirely unrelated nonsense for a bit of distraction! Join hands with us and you’ll get through.

@hoggie Yay!! Woo-hoo!! Smiling away here at my desk to hear that you’ve reached that milestone. You do indeed appear to have Robbie Williams’ hair. :rofl: You’re better looking though. And a milestone for our @sassy3 as well. :grinning: Great news! I had one of those V-pillows given to me which did the trick. It was sort of heart-shaped.

Hi @rainbowbrite10. Sorry to hear that you had a tough time emotionally after your op. Getting those horrid drains out is a lovely feeling. Can’t believe not 1 but 2 nurses made you feel worse. To lack a basic understanding of how someone might feel after a life-altering op like that is hugely disappointing. Constructive criticism wouldn’t be a bad thing if it stops another unempathetic response in future. Please let us know how it all goes on 3rd September.

Happy birthday @caz591. You must seriously make up for last year’s birthday and this is a big birthday so double cake for you. What a great and positive message for everyone. Nice one.

@kartoffel Did you see I’d sponsored you? Go, go, go, running potato!!

I had a great day at the Donkey Derby yesterday. I won a bottle of port, £5 on the only race I entered, coffee and cake for 2 at Blossoms tearoom and got 4 beautiful cupcakes for 50p each. My friends, I am winning at life!!

Fingers crossed for the interview!! I am sure things happen for a reason (even this BC sh*t I am sure, although still looking for that reason right now. :rofl:)

You are so lovely Salbert and look after us all so well on here, so you and yours deserve only good things now. Oh and the donkey derby will be fun!

Flipping heck, @hoggie! You look so well. That’s a beautiful pic that does and will smash various preconceived ideas about how someone is supposed to look when they finish chemo. This is wonderful. Thanks for your kind words. I too, believe that things happen for a reason and now I have to trust that all will be revealed in good time.

Thanks also to you @bellbert. It’s all so up in the air at the moment that I found myself tossing and turning at 4am this morning. I stuck my earbuds in and YouTube literally offered me up a meditation on letting go of things we cannot control. Scary! However, it was what I needed to hear and I drifted off again and have woken up today thinking that I need to do exactly that. Fretting about it will not change the outcome so if I have not heard by Friday then I will be there with my son at 9am at the front of the queue. You can’t leave it all to fate!

I can’t believe the nurses attitude and what they said to you after your surgery. If it was me I would follow up with the matron as their behaviour is not acceptable. My blood is boiling for you! :rage::face_with_symbols_over_mouth: Take time to recover as it can be emotional going over it.

PALS within hospitals can help you with complaints and poor service.

Thinking of you and hoping for good pathology.

@hoggie last chemo. :tada::tada::tada::tada: I agree with @carrie5 you look better than Robbie. Well done with cold capping, it’s not easy but it can work, it did for me.

@caz591 Happy Birthday.:tada::birthday::partying_face::confetti_ball:

@kartoffel good they didn’t flag anything at your heart scan. Hopefully not too long to wait for full results.

@salbert I’m keeping everything crossed for you that your son get the right course for him. Well done on the Donkey Derby. :smiley:

Take care all :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:
