Hi Tiz
So sorry to hear of you diagnosis with Breast Cancer.
When you have your biopsy, the tissue removed is sent to a pathology lab for testing. They test it with Oestrogen, progestogen and HER2 the epidermal growth hormone. If your tissue proves positive (sensitive) to Oestrogen and/or progestogen, it is said to be hormone positive and at some point in your treatment you will have a hormone tablet such as Tamoxifen to take. If it is HER2 positive, they you will need Herceptin, which at the moment is only licensed for use alongside chemotherapy. Your cancer is HER2 negative, so Herceptin will not be necessary for you. The fact that your BCN said it was a good result, I’m assuming you are oestrogen/progesteron positive. If so, depending on the grade of your tumour and if there are any lymph nodes or not, you MIGHT not need chemo.
.
Sending hugs and best wishes
