Hi all
i have my final chemo tomorrow. I am happy but I am also nervous about next steps now. I will be having a lumpectomy. I think the outcome of the lumpectomy will determine next steps. I’ve been getting phesgo alongside docetaxol chemo. The oncologist said if there are cells remaining after lumpectomy I will get more intense treatment which I’m assuming is kadcyla. Has anyone got experiences of this? I feel I was calm throughout chemo now I’m starting to feel stressed again.
Hi,
My daughter was put on Kadcyla after having chemo, lumpectomy as she had a very small residue of cells after surgery.
Everybody is so different to how they react to the treatment and like you she was very wary about more treatment and how she would react.
I can honestly say that compared to the side effects of her chemo Kadcyla was nowhere near as bad.She was tired for the first few days but the nausea was very mild or non existent some weeks. Her hair continued to grow which really pleased her.She was still careful mixing regarding her immune system but was able to carry on her day to day life ,she even managed to return to work for a few hours before her treatment finished and go on holiday.
I hope you have a complete response after your surgery but if you do need Kadcyla treatment then I hope you too find it’s not as bad as you had anticipated and very doable
