I have been reading the forums since June 08, and found the subjectes a great help. This is my 1st post! I will try to keep it short, or I could go on & on & ON. Has anyone been suffering a feeling of severe nausea during their herceptin treatment. My mum is on 13 out of 18, and over the past 3 treatments her side effects seem to be getting worse. Apart from the normal ups & downs, her problems seems to be worsening & not getting any better. She has spent the full weekend in bed complaining of nausea & headaches (& is obviously fed up with it all), we have mentioned the problems to the onc & nurses but are constantly told to see her GP, we have had anti-sickness pills, ant-acids etc but nothing seems to help. I wonder if she has developed an ulcer with all the meds. Does anyone have any thoughts…
Dear Nelson, I’ve been on Herceptin for eighteen months now and find the following tips were really helpful. Paracetamol four times a day for the day I have Herceptin and for about a week afterwards, making sure I’ve had a dose at least an hour before the Herceptin. Are they running the Herceptin too fast? Really slow is better, my session takes a good two hours altogether and that’s with one on one attention. Herbal tea made with four good slices of ginger and two of fresh lemon. topped up with boiling water, not more than six a day but I find them really good for settling my stomach.
I hope you find this helpful, my best wishes to you all.
