I have just had a mastectomy and currently waiting for the path report to determine my next treatment (if any).
I was diagnosed with pagets (nipple). I have been looking for information as to if there are any links with her2. It would seem that there is - however, I do realise that I will need to wait for my results.
If I find that I am her2 pos, then it herceptin only given after chemo?

As far as I recall (although I may be wrong) you only have herceptin if you have chemo. I’m having a year of herceptin which started with my 4th lot of chemo which was Taxotere.

Yes Ruby is right, you need to have chemo if you’re going to have herceptin.
I would also add that herceptin is being given alongside taxotere in some hospitals now. Obvious advantage to this is that it shortens the treatment period. Another problem that exists occasionally is that the heart is not strong enough after taxotere to proceed with herceptin and having the two drugs simultaneously avoids this complication.

I was hoping that a mastectomy would be the worst thing. Guess I need to wait and see.
