Hi-anyone had recon at New cross Wolv, or Nuffield Stoke?

Hi all

I am due to have a mastectomy and immediate reconstruction. I have the choice of either Wolverhampton or Stoke.

Has anyone had any experiences of this treatment in either of these?

Hi
I had my mx at New Cross and they were brilliant with that, as well as having my chemo there. Not having recon till al treatment over, but would be very surprised if not equally good on that aspect.

Thanks Rosie, that’s good to hear as I’m steering towards Wolvs due to it being closer to me.It’s a bit weird to have had lots of contact with one hospital and then have to change but never mind.

Lizzy- thanks for the hugs! I’m okay but in waiting limbo again as I’m now waiting to find out which recon wold be best for me. The waiting game never ends does it?! Hope you’re okay too,

I had all my treatment at New Cross, my surgeon was Mrs Matey, she’s absolutely brilliant, several ladies had told me she was good before I had my surgery, which was a skin-sparing mastectomy with immediate implant (the cancer had shrunk after chemo) Even the ladies at my local village doctors have heard of her reputation.
I went to have photo’s taken at the medical photography dept after the surgery, and the lady taking the pictures even asked when my surgery was due - she was staggered that I’d had it done already. I’d recommend her in a heartbeat.

Thanks Shannon, you have made me feel a little better about the impending situation. I have an appointment with Mrs Matey this Friday. I have been told that we will discuss what recon will be best for me but as someone else has said on this forum, I’m not sure i like the sound of any of the choices. We’ll see I guess.It is good to hear positive things about her work.

Hi Freddie,

I had my reconstruction at the Nuffield in Stoke with Mr Prinslo and he made a brilliant job. I had the muscle from my back and an implant. It was a big op but it was woth it.
