hi everyone ,have just managed to get back online after surgery.went back to the breast clinic monday for the result on second suspicious lump , good news it was benign( what a relief).consultant wanted me in hospital next day for surgery early wed morning for WLE ,sentinel node and axillary sampling. I was terrified but now its over am realy surprised how well it all went ,everyone was fantastic at the hospital and got lots of support from all the nurses and doctors who couldnt have been lovelier .am now waiting to go back to the clinic on 9th august for treatment plan which i know will definately be radiation possibily chemo ,Im still very emotional (good days bad days) but i guess thats normal eh. i think the best way to cope with things is one step at a time . everythings happened so quick its only been 2 weeks since first going to gp with a lump but in a way im glad things are moving fast cos the waiting and not knowing is definately the hardest part, hubby has taken it hard but been realy fantastic and has got me through the first hurdel, have to say found it a bit wierd that for 2 days i was weeing bright blue and left nipple is blue as well its the dye they have to inject i know but its still VERY STRANGE… if anyone can give me any advice about radiation treatment and what side effects i can expect that would be great , and not sure what to do about work and stuff im a carer/ homehelp and was still working till day before going in hospital . hugs and kisses to everyone my thoughts and best wishes are with you all .

Hi Lindiloo,
just gone through the same op on the 17th. I too was terrified! I am waiting the results of my sentinal node biopsy and WLE. I have been amazed that the shoulder has been more uncomfortable than the actual operation areas. How about you?
I cant help you with the radiation treatment as I dont know either and as for work, I work in school so I have the hols before I have to return. Its strange not knowing how long things will continue isnt it? I thought I would feel better much faster I must admit.
I am sure we will both get through this OK and be back in action shortly,
best wishes
Jean.
Hi Lindiloo,
I had my appointment with the radiotherapy team just this week as I start 6 weeks of radiotherapy in about 5 weeks time. I was given a lot of information about my treatment and have been told not to take any antoxidants or Vitamin C or E supplements during the treatment. When I asked why I was told that Vitamin E can reduce the effectiveness of radiotherapy by 1/3. Isn’t that amazing? I have also been requested to take my body moisturiser in as I will be expected to use a lot of it during the treatment and they want to see what’s in it - I’ve switched to organic products since my diagnosis.
I have to say that I am dreading the radiotherapy as I have to go every week day for 6 weeks - the sheer logistics or organising life around this fills me with horror. I just can’t get my head around organising work, kids, husband, childcare etc around this daily appointment ! Anyway winge over - good luck with your treatment , best wishes to you x
Hi Lindiloo
Thanks for the info and reassuring comments. I am going in for my op on 6 August and expecting the blue wee routine! I was diagnosed on 9 July, so mine has dragged on slightly longer than yours. I think you will have to play it by ear re work, especially in your line of work. See how you feel and take care of yourself.
Lots of love.
