Hi, i'm Karen

I’m about to start chemo, just wondering what are the best things to take with me.

Hi,

@kar3n

I used to take a shawl in case cold, sucking sweets as I could taste the IV meds, snacks, book, water, iPad (and log onto hospital wi-fi.)

the unit did have a water dispenser, tea/coffee that was on constant offer, pillows… but I liked my own just in case.

wear baggy clothes for blood pressure checks and curling up in recliner-shoes that slip on and off easily.

and a pen/diary notebook to write down any med times, information you’re given, next appointments.

hope it goes okay for you. Big hugs

Laura

Hi Guys.
Well, got 1 more chemo session, lost hair, been feeling generally unwell, thought i was gonna black out today, think my shower was too hot, but one thing that’s really annoying me is my throat, feel like i need to clear it, went to doctor’s but all ok, has anyone else had this ?
Many thanks.

Hi Karen,

I’m sorry to hear you’re feeling so unwell, it must be very concerning to feel like this and be told everything is OK by the doctor.

You may find one of the Chemotherapy threads helpful as many people share experiences and advice there.

Sending our love,
Lucy

Thankyou Lucy.

I’ve just given up with throat, is what it is.
Hopefully i’ll get back to some sort of normality after treatment.

I found a swallowing a little oil (I used olive oil) helped reduce the strange tickling sensation in my throat. Hopefully, it helps you.
