Hi i am from 9ctober chemo thread. I have fin8shed chemo now and i am having a masectomy of my right breast with SNB and expander implant next Monday. This thread is very useful and helpful. You are all doing very well.
Can i just ask if you tookany type of bra to wear after your ops? I forgot to ask at my pre op today. Will iwear anything on my breasts after the op?
Ali49 i took 2 non wired bras from asda into hospital but they said any lace would aggitate the scar so they gave me one of theirs brand new from a charity altbough the cups wete too big it did support underneath. When is your op?
I got paracetamols, ibuprofen and recently dihydrocodeine. Didn’t really have much pain till Friday Saturday (8-9 days post op). Apparently it’s the drain . Dihydrocodeine makes me drowsy but what a fab sleep I get on them.
Hope your all doing ok . I had results back and 10mm extended was found in the Breast tissue so definitely right decision for mx . No evidence of cancer in my nodes so no further treatment required .
Apparently they sell the bra on Asda I bought from jd williams
Hi girly888 yes im straightening up now still feel my tummy is going to ‘pop’ open though. Oh bliss sleeping on your side and being able to go to bed without a bra on. Heaven! I cant wait !!!
Miffy - 10.000 steps - what are you like! Am glad you are feeling so well.
Ali - just wanted to say thank you - when I was diagnosed with high grade DCIS last January, I was following your posts with Schumi and Coralie and the other ladies and they were the deciding factor in which treatment option I took so am grateful to you all for that as I was having a really hard time on the decision.
Meanwhile I can’t seem to find any of my earlier posts - a few weeks ago I reported innapropriate advertising on the forum, next time I came on the site, I was banned for a few hours! So i think the moderator banned me by mistake and maybe that’s why my earlier posts disappeared.
Ali49 sending you very best wishes for tomorrow. Like Miffy rightly says its the waiting thats the worst bit. Will be thinking of you tomorrow. All the very very best to you xxx
Hi Conorchloe, I had the single mx and immediate DIEP last April - I feel great both physically and mentally. Some of the breast skin failed to heal so I had a bit of revision surgery a couple of weeks after the DIEP and it has left significant scarring but it doesn’t trouble me. My stomach scar healed very well and is very soft and faded.
I’m having the other side lifted and reduced in the summer - the plastic surgeon offered me a nipple recon but I might pass on that one.
A few months after the op I was having pain in the shoulder on the op side and hadn’t regained strength in that hand - went to osteopath and he showed me that the arm movement was very limited - he did some massage and gave me an exercise which is a bit like the creeping up the wall but with my back to the wall - it was really hard! I went to see him a few times and improved but his advice was to go swimming - twice a week x 20 minutes - this has worked out really well for me as I am always on watch for lymphoedema.
I see you are a couple of weeks on from your op so it’s still early days for you but I hope you are feeling positive and not too uncomfortable, girly x
Thinking of you ali , I’m sure you will be as good as us. To be fair I think we are all doing amazing .
Roxanne sorry to hear your having radiotherapy, didn’t think that was an option.
