high temp

Had a check up today after 4th herceptin. I have a line in and had it flushed whilst I was there and bloods done. I felt really tired a few hours later and my temp has risen to 39.1. Do you think It is just a bug? What do you thi nk I should do I am not a pinicker so don’t want to cause any unneccesary fuss cheers Eileen

Eileen love you really need to contact your hospital. There is a risk you might have an infection in the line, and the sooner they are aware the better for you.

Dawn

Hi Eileen,
I think the same as Dawn you should ring the local hospital who will advise you. Best to be safe. I was told to always contact them if my temp went above 37.5. You are not causing any fuss Eileen, they are there to help you.
Hope you feel better soon
Take Care and let us know how you get on.

Eileen

If they flushed the line and a few hours later you have a high temp - chances are high it could be infection in the line and them flushing it has pushed it into your bloodstream - you really should contact hosp!!! - sorry if thats not what you want to hear.

Take care

Just read your post Eileen you must go to hospital. They told me if my temp went above 38 I was to call an ambulance straight away. They even gave me a paper with all the numbers written down. So I think they take it pretty seriously if your temp goes as high as yours. I know you may not want to go to the hospital but its better to get there now as wait until during the night when you could be rushed in. Please take my advice and phone the hospital and let them decide for you.I dont wish to sound harsh but it could save your life Please call the hospital love Linda xxxx

Eileen - don’t worry about causing a fuss - you must get this checked out as soon as possible.
Take care and let us know what happens.

Eileen - hoping you are ok and that no news is good news.

love Dawn

Eileen Please contact hospital now as Hickman may have introduced a nasty infection

Than&ks for all your posts. I went to Rochdale A & E and waited in a cubicle for an hour and a half despite overhearing the staff saying they weren’t busy. My temp was a little high but not worrtyingly so. I asked if they would use my line and the junior doctor said that they had to take blood out of hand but I could have antibiotics through the line. I agreed. WHEN NURSE CAME IN ABOUT AN HOUR LATER SHE SAID SHE WAS putting a canula in my hand. I jumped off the bed and said I was off. So off I went. I know I was wrong but I felt that they were fobbing me off. I came home got in bed took 2 paracetamol and slept. I feel a lot better today and temp is 36.5. Last time I had line infection I had started to get better before they started me on antibiotics so hoped it would be same and it was. Decided to have line taken out. I have rung the breast care nurse to see how I arrange this. Does anyone know how I sort it out. thanks for your sensible advice lafies. I have changed since I started all this palaver with bc Very dramatic now lol Your concern is touching. Lots of love Eileen
