Hi everyone.
I posted a few months ago when I was first diagnosed in April.
I was initially diagnosed as grade 2 IDC ER7 and HER2 negative.
My tumour was 50mm and I had a lumpectomy with LICAP on the 24th May.
Surgery went well and I recovered quickly.
Fast forward to 27th June and I was told all the cancer had gone with clear margins and no lymph node activity.
I was told I’d need possibly chemo, definitely radiotherapy and some kind of hormone therapy and I would hear something within a few months about starting preventative treatment.
Today I had a phone call to say my histology results are actually showing me as triple negative and I’d be called for some genetic testing. My mind went blank ( I was also at work) and I just said
Oh ok. I feel like I’ve been diagnosed for the first time all over again.
Does anyone have any helpful or positive advice for me before I speak to my BCN tomorrow. No sleep for me tonight!
Hi I was diagnosed with TNBC in January I was advised to go for the genetic testing, when I asked why the consultant said as some not all may be a carrier. Before I was tested I sat with a BCN. She was fantastic and went through everything with me.
The test came back after 7 weeks and I don’t carry the gene.
Hope that helps you it’s like a roller coaster dealing with everything you think right I know my plan then boom it changes. I had my mastectomy last Thursday, back to hospital tomorrow for the results. So another sleepless night.
I’m really sorry about what you’re going through and I hope you get some answers tomorrow. I guess you had your 1st diagnosis in May based on a biopsy? how do they explained the change of diagnosis (misdiagnosis?) and is it something that frequently happens? I guess you have those questions too and hopefully you get more clarity from your BCN on how this new diagnosis impacts your preventive treatment
Best of luck tomorrow
Yes when I was first diagnosed in April it was from a biopsy that was taken. Apparently that small amount contained estrogen but at the histology report the tumour contained no estrogen or progesterone. Baffled to be honest. I’ll try and get more answers today. Thanks ever so much for replying
