Holiday/flight shortly BEFORE chemo

Hello,

I’m due to begin chemotherapy at some point in early September.

We often go away during late August and I’m wondering whether staying UK based might be more sensible this time? Just thinking about increased risks of catching something during flights etc.

Sensible or over-cautious? I’d really appreciate some thoughts!

Thank you!

I had some issues with travel insurance being cancelled at renewal as I didn’t have a treatment plan at the point so had to cancel our cruise as the specialist premium was nearly as much as the the holiday. So that could be a factor to consider.

Otherwise you’re no more at risk than pre cancer right now?

I booked a last minute trip to Paris just before my chemo started last year because I knew I wouldn’t get away over the summer. About a month post lumpectomy. Travel insurance was fine. It was like an extra £3 health premium for breast cancer. I literally flew back on the Monday, had bloods on the Tuesday and my first treatment on the Thursday. I’m really glad I did it.
