Hi Lynn
Breast Cancer Care have a publication on travel insurance which you may find useful, it can be found by following the link below:-
breastcancercare.org.uk//docs/bc_travelinssep06_0.pdf
Also. if you type ‘travel insurance’ into the ‘search’ box at the top of this page it will take you to recent discussions on this where you will find lots of tips.
Best wishes
Lucy
I got my holiday insurance through Freedom, we have found them really helpful, tho a bit more expensive than an ordinary company. We have used them twice.

why is it so hard to get cover…
i have found lots of people that will cover but not for pre excisting things like bc.
when i do find someone and i mention chemo or herceptin they say NO.
i try to explain i had mastectomy so should be all gone and the chemo and herceptin is added insurance so to speak but they are so unreasonable uncaring i cant believe it. so now thinking of just taking normal ins and not covering bc. as really whats going to happen in a fortnight away. i understand if you have it more seriously it colud be a problem whilst away and als before you go as it may be you have to cancel a holiday. i am booking a year in advance but only have to pay deposit till 8 weeks before. i am choosing operators that only take a little deposit and it wont be too much to loose if i cancel hols. then goingto take a normal ins which excludes bc only way can afford. hope this helps

Hi Julie (and Lynn)
There are several threads on here about this annoying ‘side effect’ of having BC. If you search on travel insurance I’m sure they will pop up. Before being dx with 2ndary bc I used It’s so easy (who I understand won’t insure for 2ndary bc) and I found them to be very reasonable. I used them for a couple of years including a trip to USA and also ski ing. I had an annual policy with them as well rather than a single trip but this could have been as I was only on tamoxifen at that point and 4 yrs post treatment. They are on the web so should be able to be googled (or definitely on ‘Ask’). Be aware that you may have to include anyone travelling with you on the policy if your bc causes any of them to miss a flight/cancel holiday etc even if they are insured on a separate policy.
