holiday insurance

holiday insurance Anyone help me out on the topic of getting holiday insurance (only to Europe) I tried Free Spirit which is recommended on here with no luck. Did I fill the form in wrong? I have secondaries - bone mets- but not exactly terminal (don’t think so anyway) only on exemestane and just having regular checks at the hospital. I would have thought that just ordinary Post Office Travel Insurance would do.? Would appreciate your responses . thanks.

holiday insurance Hi Hunza - I recently went to stay with friends in Tampa, Florida and rang various insurance companies recommended on here, Freedom Travel etc. Some of them wanted more than the cost of the ticket £360, to include cover for bc (I have no secondaries but did have lymph node involvement.) Eventually I went with the Post Office and declined the additional premium to cover bc. I paid £56 for 14 days cover. I figured I would not die of bc in 2 weeks and the trip went without incident. Their price for Europe will be a lot less. My hairdresser went with the Post Office for a mediterranean cruise whilst having chemo and had no problems. Good luck
Liz.

Holiday Insurance Give Marrs Insurance a try at www.Marrs.co.uk. or 0870 920 2222. They sometimes cover at a reasonable cost for pre-existing medical conditions, providing you can satisfactorily answer questions on their Health Declaration. I have just taken out an Annual Policy with them for myself and hubby (Europe) for £70 - including cover for anything related to BC. I finished treatment in December 2004 and am taking Tamoxifen.

Good Luck.

travel insurance Hi, I have just got family annual insurance to europe for £118 from “its so easy” travel insurance. They are non profit making and specialise in pre existing conditiond. Although my situation is not the same as yours it might be worth giving them a call,

travel insurance Hi,
I have been given the names of three companies who specialise in insurance after a cancer diagnosis.

Haven’t found the energy to phone yet, but the details are:
Brunsdon 01452623623
Orbis 01424220110
All Clear plan 0870 7779339

Was also told that using a broker can avoid having a tick box decision which can penalise us unfairly.

BIBA gives details of brokers 0870 9501790 www.biba.org.uk

Hope this is some help.

Best wishes to everyone

E111 - for Europe Hi Hunza,

I wonder whether just using the E111 (obtainable from the Post Office) might suffice, if you are unable to get sensible quotes on travel insurance.

I brought back up another thread that was started in the ‘after treatment has finished forum’ which also contains a few details on various options people found when trying to get travel insurance.

Good luck and have a wonderful holiday.

E 111 An E111 now called EHIC will only treat you in a public hospital abroad
it will not cover any expenses if you are admitted to a private hospital and often tourists will be taken to a private hospital.

I work for a company that assists people when they have been taken ill abroad whilst on holiday.

Also if you require medical assistance for your return journey E111 will not cover this either you still need travel insurance.

Don’t mean to put a damper on things but dont want you to travel without insurance as costs abroad quickly mount up.

Good luck and have a great holiday
