Home same day after bi-lateral mastectomy

Hi

I’m a newbie although I was a member 12 years ago when I was first diagnosed with BC.  Now I have a new primary in the same breast.

I’m having a bi-lateral mastectomy on the afternoon of 5th July and have been told that I will go home the same day.  I have to have someone with me for the first 24 hours at home.

Has anyone else had the same? It’s worrying me a bit.

Hi Milliesmum,

i am surprised that you have been told this…  i had a single mastectomy and went to theatre at 2.30 back at 4 and as it was late i was kept in overnight… made me feel more relaxed.

maybe you should speak to someone and let them know you arent happy about being sent home.
