Hi everyone, three weeks since tram op and my dressings were removed today at the dressing clinic. I can now have a shower, praise be, and begin massaging my scars. I have to say they are very neat, all power to my lovely ps.
I am now able to drive to my local shops but continue to take things easy at home as I still have low energy levels. But hey, it improves day by day.
Now I am looking forward to three weeks time when I can cast off the awful wrap around girdle!
Hope those of you who have recently had the tram/diep op are recovering and to those of you about to have this op, the results are well worth the initial discomfort.

Hi Maggie - Im 2 weeks from my tram op… and was given the all clear to shower last week - but scared to… ! I still have tape over my tummy cut and on my new boob - but am seeing ps on Thursday when all will be removed… not sure how I feel about having to touch and familiarise myself with the bew boob… I was told that as long as I get some tough pants I could stop wearing the elasticated girdle - which I have done and its miles better as the velcro was irrirtating my skin from the girdle thing!
Im still tired and I dont know about you, but I still walk a little bent over and slowly as my abdomen feels SO tight!
But hey! its done and its over with and the fear has subsided !
Good luck to you
Hi Jenny, glad to hear your’e doing OK. I was told not to get the dressings wet, hence no shower for three weeks. I’m hoping to get into town next week and get some M & S magic pants, although I will probably still sleep in the girdle. Want to give myself the best possible chance of recovery.
I probably had more spare fat on my tummy than you - at 3 weeks I now find I can walk straight although I do get back rib ache on my oposite side. Perhaps I am over compensating for extra weight on my chest or something. Still laugh when I think about wearing my tummy on my chest! I’ve heard people who had the LD flap state that when touched on their back they feel it on their chest. Happily touching my tummy doesn’t have the same affect!
Take care, Maggie xx
me too girls 2 wks and i had the drains out today and can shower yippppeeee hope you all feel as good as i do . phewwwwwwwww it over
I was at the nurse again today. 3 weeks post op. My wound began leaking on Monday to that has set me back a bit, But Idid succumb to wearing a girdle (borrowed from mum) All on track soon though and my belly button is looking a bit more normal as well.
