I was supposed to have surgery tomorrow. I have ER/PR positive, grade 3 tumor and was scheduled for a double mastectomy. I had a lot of things I was fearful about but one of them was NOT my pre-surgery covid test. Yet I tested positive and they cancelled my surgery and can’t reschedule for at least two weeks which leaves my stupid tumor two more weeks to grow and spread. I’m trying not to freak out about it but how fast do the darned things grow? My doctors don’t seem concerned by the delay but I’m still having periods which means my estrogen can go up there. And it will have been over 30 days since my diagnosis before I finally get into surgery. Incidently, I have absolutely no symptoms and when I got home I tested negative on two government issued at home covid tests. No idea where my hospital got a positive test from and I am both equally livid and absolutely petrified.
Kay So sorry you tested positive for covid and this has caused delay to your surgery please try and keep positive It was 6 weeks from diagnosis to operation for me back in 2017 and I was a tnbc. I’m sorry you are delayed for couple weeks more and I understand you just want it out, think that’s how we’ve all felt Do what you need to do to get you through next couple of weeks till operation is rescheduled And everyone is here to support you Shi xx
