Over the last 4 days (its now one week since my UMX) I have been having hot flashes - I did not have these before and am not taking any hormone treatments of any kind at all. Is this a reaction to the surgery? Does it mean the surgery has triggered me in to more menopausal stuff? I did have a very short phase of a few hot flashes about one year ago but nothing since until now…
Anyone else had this? Any info to share?
I’ve been having hot flushes very recently and my period is 2 weeks late. Over the last few years they’ve been when expected - to the day! - and the last couple were actually EARLY. I’ve had blood tests today to determine whether I am menopausal as docs say radiotherapy is unlikely to have caused this. (Also had to have a pregnancy test - but I KNOW it can’t possibly be that OH had op 23 years ago!!)
I am 11/15 of way through RADs after WLE and SNB in February, so my case is not quite the same as yours.
I know stress can affect ther menstrual cycle - and there’s nothing so stressful as BC diagnosis and treatment? So that may be a factor.
It’ll be interesting to see if anyone else has experienced hormone changes/onset of menopause.
Well I had a hysterectomy a few years ago but kept my ovaries so don´t know where i am at age 55 but I do know I did not have hot flushes before and now they are daily…weird
Hi Sascha I had my surgery mx and reconstruction three weeks ago and have two hot flushes in the last week - I have not started my hormone treatment yet so I can’t put it down to that - I have been told that some people react to a GA in this way (not totally convinced) but going to mention it on my visits to the hospital later this week. I suppose due to my age (46) it could be the start of a early menopause and would of happened anyway even if I did not have the breast cancer and it is just a coincidence or perhaps having the breast cancer has triggered it - all I would say is I am not looking forward to the hormone treatment having had a taste of what I can expect!!!
