Hormone therapy- what to do? er+ her2-

hi all

im 39, diagnosed last July had lympectomy, lymph node removal, chemo 8 rounds and 15 sessions radiotherapy.

i been having zoladex since jan 2026, and started letrozole 2 months ago. i have found the last 3 months my moods swings insane (crying loads), joint paint, brain fog and flushes.

met with oncologist today he said he wants me to have a break for month and go on tamoxifen. now admittedly the only thing ive enjoyed the last few months was not having a period. I have endometriosis also (diagnosed 2011) i dont know what i should do but when he asked me could i go on another 3-5 years like this i said no. i asked about the other AIs but he said there wouldnt be much difference? im worried as woukd the tamoxifen help the endo grow? will i even get a period after chemo etc?

im struggling mentally i been off work since last july- i work with children with additional needs. i want normality (and money) yet cant face it yet. im on waiting list for medical trauma but as we know with nhs waiting lists could be months. really have had a guts full of it all. i feel worse now than when i done the chemo/radio

any advice would be appreciated. thanks x

I’ve certainly read on the forum about people finding other AIs more easy to tolerate than Letrozole - in particular Exemestane.

Have you got a breast cancer nurse you could ring to talk the options through ?

You could also ring the Breast Cancer Now nurses on the helpline to chat about your concerns ?

I hope you find a combination you feel happy with .

I am on my third tablet now, as the joint pain on Letrozole and Exemastane were bad. It’s slightly better on anastrozole. But everyone tolerates them differently. I have a friend who is on Letrozole and has no side effects . Ask your oncologist to try one of these. He shouldn’t refuse if he is nice like mine.
