Hormone Therapy whilst starting menopause

Hi

Just wondering if anyone has any information?

I am 50 and have been informed that if I need to start with hormone therapy,I will have to be on Tamoxifen due to me still having periods.(Something else if I was post- menopause.)

However, I suspect that maybe I am starting with the menopause at the moment (timing never was one of my good points)

would I still have to take Tamoxifen or would this change or maybe even start with that and move on to another drug at some point?

This is all new to me so thanks in advance!

I was in the same situation as you - age 50, heading into menopause but not post-menopausal yet. They stick you on Tamoxifen until you are definitely post-menopausal, which they prove with blood tests. Once you are post-meno then you usually get switched over to aromatase inhibitors. Which is where I’m probably heading later this year since I’ll be 53 in August.
