Hot all of the time

I am on Exemestane for about a year. Everyone asks me if I have hot flashes. I don’t have classic hot flashes but I am hot all of the time. My husband finds our house comfortable, while I am constantly hot and sweating. I assume this is from Exemestane? Is there any treatment for this? I don’t really want a SSRI. Thanks

Hello jeannej,

Thanks for posting.

Hormone therapies like exemestane can cause a range of menopausal symptoms. For some they might be the more typical hot flushes which come and go, whereas for others they may feel generally hotter some or all the time.

There are a range of different ways in which this might be controlled and is explained in our menopausal information above with more details in our booklet Menopausal symptoms and breast cancer.

You can contact your breast care nurses as well to talk this through and get more support. They can help you manage any ongoing effects of treatment. It might also help to connect with other women to see what has helped them. You may want to post on the hormone therapy section of our forums and here are the details for all our services.
