.
Hi,thanks for the message.Had op 18th August and recovering very well. Was in Hospital for 1 week,a week from hell. Was on Oxygen for 2 days,as surgery was more intensive than they thought.Have quite a scar, but i,m alive.I had low blood pressure, low iron levels then my period decided to come abit earlier.Felt like dying.
have had an inflater put in,as small, but skin is far too tight to even begin expanding me.Seeing my consultant on Thursday to know if I need any Chemo, just in case. Also begin taking Tomoxifen then too as well.
Anyone got any comments on taking Tomoxifen. My mum took it,but that was in 1999 and sadly she is not here any more to ask.Would appreiciate any comments.
Thank you so much to you all.
Lets all push BC Awareness Month, next month, can,t wait to get involved again.
Hi
I started Tamoxifen three weeks ago, and haven’t noticed any side effects at all. (I am also on anti depressants temporarily , so I don’t know whether they have masked any symptoms.) I had a mastectomy and LD flap recon 5 weeks ago, but luckily have escaped chemotherapy,

Hi december,
Glad to hear the surgery is over and hope you have good news from the consultant.
There are plenty of threads under the “undergoing hormone tratement” section about Tamoxifen. The onc I saw at Norwich cautioned against reading it all though as it can give a skewed picture - people are more likely to start a thread if they’re having bad side effects than if all is fine. I found everyone’s experiences helpful. I was very wary of starrting on Tamoxifen, not just the side effects, but also the 5 year sentence, the end of my reproductive capability and for me there was only a 3-4% improvement to my prognosis score. I did try it for a few weeks - I had a few early side effects - nausea, eczema flared up. The decider for me though was that it sapped me of all energy and I decided to stop, take the extra risk for improved quality of life.
Best Wishes
Misha
