this sounds awful but its not just need some friendly advice. i had mastectomy and imm recon in DEC. had problems with skin healing. my own nothing to do with op or implant. it was where a dressing attached to normal skin. they think i was allergic to it… anyway it was April before it healed up and i was allowed chemo.
my problem is now it scabs over which is good. but for a month or two now. the scabs come off in little bits leaving fresh new skin then a new scab goes over it and i am back to square one. it looks awful good job nonone sees it. i don’t want to mention it to professionals as they wanted a skin graft back in Jan and i cant cope with any more ops. just wondered if anyone had any tips. thanks in advance Julie.
Hi Julie
- seems like no one’s had the same thing - but I did after a core biopsy before all my surgery - the Tegaderm dressing left huge blisters which wouldn’t heal and the skin just kept scabbing. I eventually decided that it was because it was in an area that was constantly moving (under my arm, in a vertical line from mid arm pit for about 4cm) so I began to use a homeopathic cream called Hypercal, which I applied every day in tiny (gentle!) circular movements all over the broken bit. This worked for the healing then I swapped to Calendula cream to keep it supple.
Worked for me, all in 2 weeks, so def. worth a try…
Although you don’t want to see a health care bod, remember that if it gets infected you’ll need antibiotics…
Oh - and if you’re not having chemo, take vit.C and Bcomplex to help with healing!
