How do you get results?

Hi, if biopsy results are benign do they generally call you or do you still have an in person appointment?

I had 3 core biopsies taken on Thursday after they discovered micro calcification at urgent appointment.

They said I’ll hear from the nurses within 2 weeks with a date for my appointment. But I’m sure someone I know got a call to say hers were all clear & didn’t have to go in for an appointment. Just wondering if that’s fairly standard?

I was diagnosed three years ago so things may have changed since then but everyone came back for an appointment including those with benign results (West London). This was because some benign lumps are better off coming out so surgery could be discussed if necessary. As I sat waiting for my appointment, I saw several women coming out smiling and laughing so I assume they got the good news which I didn’t. Tomorrow I go for the third of my five annual mammograms so am fervently hoping I’m not back in that situation! Good luck to you however you get your results.

Hi @jolm

You usually attend the clinic for results either way.
I had calcifications a few on one side of my breast and they did the same re biopsies etc
That was the area they had earmarked.
I pointed another diff area.
The calcifications were benign in the end it was the lump I found which was malignant.

Hang in there.
Hope all goes well for you

Best wishes
Lynn

Thank you @chillout365. I’m still awake at 1.20am so I guess I’m a little anxious about it. The previous two were third week of July, I expect it’s been pushed back to the second week of August because of staff holidays etc so am not expecting a quick response. I guess no news is good news in this context :crossed_fingers:. Good luck in October.

All over for another year! Very good service at Ealing Hospital including a radiologist being on site to check the images whilst I waited. She said that she saw no change from last year so NED but the protocol is that a second radiologist has to check and if they disagree, it goes to the next level of seniority. There was no second radiologist there today. She seemed like a very smart young woman and her opinion is good enough for me. I should get a confirmation letter in 2-4 weeks. Hoping for a better night tonight!

Hi all, can I know once I receive the phone call, the appointment for result would be the next day following the call?
I am waiting for the result, but just wonder how quick can I be seen, as I am not sure if my husband can get a day off to go with me :fearful:

Hi Louisa , it seems to depend on the individual hospital how and when you get your results. Hope you get some news soon - the anxious waiting is awful.
