How long to keep wearing compression socks post surgery?

I had a lumpectomy and axillary lymph clearance on Tuesday and was advised to wear the compression socks for 2-3 days and until I’m mobile again. I am up and walking around now but still quite sedentary in the evenings. Is it ok for me to stop wearing them now? I’m quite paranoid about getting a blood clot. I try to get up often, even if it’s just for a little walk around the house in the evening. I would love to not need to wear them at night as I hate the feeling of them underneath the duvet!

Your team would be best placed to answer this question as the reason for giving them also varies on your own health and the procedure you have had. The NHS website has some advice on preventing deep vein thrombosis (DVT)
