How long was it tender after biopsy

Hi all
I had biopsies taken a little over 2 weeks ago. Surgeon last week could tell I had a bruise inside me when he physically examined me, also the titanium clip is close to skin surface apparently.

I’m now due further biopsies tomorrow and feeling apprehensive as it still feels a bit tender. I’ve been using ice packs the last day or so.

Can a bruise delay a mammogram biopsy being done, and also delay surgery?
How long did it take everyone to not have a tender breast, don’t think I can do anything else other than ice packs several times a day?
Thanks xx

Hi @tuttifrutti

I was the same as you and very sore and bruised after fine needle and core biopsies. It lasted about six weeks for me. I went for my mammogram biopsy 3 weeks after my initial biopsies and they were fine with doing it. They just said that they would give me more local anaesthetic and that I should ice pack my breast afterwards and take ibuprofen after 24 hours as I would bruise even more. Unfortunately due to my naughty breast moving so much they were not able to biopsy but it wasn’t due to the bruising, pain or previous biopsies, just my difficult breast.

Good luck with your biopsy :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Hi @tuttifrutti - I was very sore for a good few weeks after my biopsies , I had a mammogram guided core biopsy two weeks after the first and the original site was still a bit tender … it was a good few weeks before things calmed down .
It didn’t delay my further biopsy at all .
I found tucking a little cushion under my armpit helped and also I got a seatbelt sleeve for the car which helped especially the day I came home from my biopsies .
Good luck with your next biopsy xx

2nd biopsy took place this morning. I’ve used some ice packs, resting and taking paracetamol. Now the wait for the dreaded results. Xx
