I am 25 and was diagnosed with BC grade 3 last month.
I had an MRI and CT scan 3 days after diagnosis, and the CT scan came back clear. I’m worried as I haven’t started chemo yet (it is starting this month as I am freezing my eggs) that the cancer is spreading, and my anxiety is through the roof because of it.
I just wondered how often CT scans are supposed to be performed in order to detect this?
Hi Hannahlizzy21, sorry you find yourself here. It is a very scary time and understandable that you feel like being scanned repeatedly. I felt just the same, like “I need to know what it’s doing in there” kind of feeling. The initial scan is to make sure there is no evidence of disease at a distant site. In reality cancer doesnt spread that quickly so the time between now and the start of your treatment is plenty of time. Once your treatment plan is in place it get easier anxiety-wise but in the meantime you can distract yourself with things you can control like preparing for your treatment. Here is my story which you may find some comfort from: lifeafterlola.com/
There is a chemo thread already set up for March 2019 starters which you can join and chat with others who are starting chemo this month. Best wishes. xx
