What are people’s experience following mastectomy with recon (implant) & radio with regards to fat transfer & lift to unaffected breast. What sort of timescale did you face? My implant side still seems bigger so fat transfer to reduce rippling is likely to make it slightly bigger again. What can they do in this scenario?
Hi liz9
I will be one year after radiotherapy (April 2025) following implant reconstruction (January 2025) in April this year. I’m seeing my surgeon again then to schedule surgery and she said the wait list is about nine months. So it will be nearly 2 years after my mascetomy by the time it happens. She is going to replace my implant because it is damaged- it’s harder than it should and not the right shape apparently. She will also place a small implant in my other breast which got even smaller with the weight loss I had during treatment.
I’m not got much spare fat around my implant so she is also going to try fat rransfer to give it a better appearance.
To be honest, I’m old enough (64) to not be too bothered about my naked appearance but I do want something that feels less alien on my chest so I’m glad she offered me the chance to have a replacement and augmentation of my remaining breast. I can stop feeling that people might be staring at me….
Good luck with your surgery whenever you have it xx
