I’ve been diagnosed with breast cancer. About the discuss chemo this Wednesday. I’ve heard about fasting. I mentioned it to my nurse and she hadn’t heard about it but said to discuss with encologist. Can anyone point me in the right direction of what a meal plan would look like? Thank you.
Hi Caroline
Have you read the posts in the Fasting while on chemo thread? We are all going about this in our own way. I choose to fast for 48 hours before chemo and 24 after. That’s just water and black coffee and I’ve gathered most info from google searches. Others eat a very low calorie fasting like diet, one of the members is a dietician and very knowledgable. My oncologist has no interest in fasting and has advised me to eat normally. I’ve fasted four times and feel it has helped enormously with side effects. There are lots of tips and hints in the other thread. If you have any questions feel free to ask.
All best wishes

Thanks Jacq I have seen the other thread and didn’t want to hijack it. I’ve heard positive things about fasting too! I’ll start googling!
Thanks Anne
This sounds daft but how do I join that thread?!

Hi Caroline
welcome to the thread. I am also fasting for chemo and feel that it’s really helped me in terms of lessening the side effects. I have not mentioned anything to the nurses or my oncologist. Just felt it was something I really wanted to do. So I have 3 days fast but eat about 300 cals {tuna salad or similar) each evening and drink plenty of water.

Thanks Ali that sounds interesting. I’m not sure if I can just manage on water but it sounds like it’s worth trying.
