How young can you be to get BC

Hi, i was just wondering if any of you ladies had heard of anyone as young as 19 being diagnosed with BC, my best friends daughter found a lump a couple of weeks ago and has been for a biopsey but has to wait 2 weeks for the result.

I had my own results the next day after biopsey so am hoping that this means the doctors are not too worried about her. She also had a baby in July so wonder if that could have made her breast lumpy although she is not breast feeding.

Obviously this is all very worrying for my friend and I especially after what i have been through myself, just wondered if anyone could help.

Thanks in anticiapation

When I was given my diagnosis I said I thought I was too young (ripe old age of 33) and the consultant surgeon did say that the youngest patient he’d had was 19 but it’s rare at that age I’m sure. I also had to wait a week for the result from biopsy so I’m afraid it is possible but not that likely so keep the fingers crossed.

Spoke to my research nurse recently who told me she had a patient with bc at age 17. How tragic is that? x

Just thought i would let you know as you were so kind to post that my friends daughter has a large cyst, so thank God nothing horrid. The worry was that she had lost her grandmother to BC.

Thanks again

Yes I am keeping well touch wood! Why does this disease make us so superstitious when we never used to be!

It has been such a relief that my friend’s daughter is ok as she has a small baby to whom i am godmother to.

Thanks again to everyone who posted, much appreciated by me and my friend.
