Thank you all for your thoughts today. Just a quick note to say I’m ok. Took a while for my head to stop spinning but just managed a cup of tea and a tuna sandwich. Main issue is that for some reason everything tastes of disinfectant - apparently it can be a side effect of anaesthetic.
can I just reassure anyone having the radioactive isotope that it didn’t hurt - I’d been warned by a ‘friend’ that it was really painful. In fact I said to the radiologist, is that it! I thought he was just freezing it!
I do have a big haematoma so have a pressure dressing on. It’s a bit uncomfortable but the oramorph is better than your wine Em!!!
I’ve been warned by my BCN that the high I’m on at the moment might come crashing down but I know with the support of you all you’ll pick me up again.
Goooood morning … lovely to hear from Jane, I’m glad all seems to have gone well and you’re back with us so quick xx
I’ve had a very busy 24hrs - 2 grandsons have been to stay, they are 20months and 10 months, just gone for their nap so putting my feet up for an hour … lol
It’s weekend!! Anybody got anything nice planned? I may put the tree up tomorrow - need to go up in the loft to get it first ?
Going getting myself a peaceful cuppa whilst I can …
Happy Saturday ?? xx xx
Been feeling really low again. Had one of hubby’s sleeping pills last night so had some sleep. Howled into my pillow this morning when he said I’d snored so loud he had to bail out into another room.
Anyway onwards and upwards … we did the bedding, hoovered and dusted. Place is crystal clean now.
had another shallow bath and hair washed. He’s amazingly good at that now ?
Had a bit of a walk around the block, long chat. He reckons I need some Valium or something. Tried really hard to explain how I was feeling without causing him too much anguish either.
His eyes did bulge a bit a bit when I asked how he would feel if his dangly bit was squeezed into a machine until it was flat and then after all that have needles stuck in from every angle and a big lump ripped from the middle. Think we walked in silence for a while after that! ?
Sis is coming over tomorrow with a Grandma Pie so hubby can have a rest. Please god let me stop feeling sick by then.
Anyone had the sentinel node biopsy…my armpit us stinging and still sore…although op was only last Thursday.its hurting more than the lumpectomy and reconstruction wound
Hi Mysti - I’m sorry you are feeling so low. Do you still have good movement in your arm? Grandma pie sounds delicious - I hope you have a better day tomorrow.
Jane, glad you are ok. Tuna sandwich … think I missed out there.
Still feeling crap … new dress just arrived which I ordered before all this … mmmmmm tried it one …bit saggy and I look like a bloody ghost but maybe a few pins may hold it together.
Think I’ll try GP again on Monday. This is so not normal.
oh yeah the G Pie is a family traditional thing. Am gonna eat some and to hell with the consequences.
Re arm … yes it moves really well but getting a bit more sore and a vein is sticking out under my arm. Not sure what that’s all about ?It’s running from under lymph plaster.
I hope everyone is o.k.? I’m off to have my CT scan this morning - I not allowed to have a drink this morning, so I am already gagging for a coffee. There’s a Costa in Derby Royal, so we will be heading there as soon as I have finished.
Good luck today silver - I’m impressed that it is a Sunday though, I thought things like scans etc were a Monday- Friday thing … who knew??? Let us know later how you got on and have a cake whilst at costa - I can never resist … lol xx
It has been fairly quiet on here so I’m hoping that everybody is keeping busy and enjoying the weekend
Pam - hope you are feeling ok and each day is getting easier after the op xx
Jane - how are you? xx
Strudel - how are you feeling about Tuesday? xx
and Emily T - what have you been up to? You have an appointment tomorrow don’t you? Hope all goes well xx
Hello all. Thought I’d do tip of the day post operatively but have three tips today!!! Firstly don’t overdo it on your first afternoon at home! Second tip is I ordered a heart shaped pillow from Jen’s friends using my husbands Facebook account. Apparently they donate these to some hospitals but you can get one direct from them for a £3.50 donation. It’s a heart shaped cushion filled with foam beads with ribbons so it sits under your arm and loops over your shoulder to hold it in place. Just keeps the pressure away from the wound. Third tip is my trust v shaped pillow. I used it when I had my shoulder surgery and last night I put it at 90 degrees behind my head so my surgery side was against on leg of the v. I managed to sleep for 2 lots of 4 hours which was amazing!! (The morphine might have helped a bit). But only taken paracetamol this morning.
i have to go back on Tuesday to have the pressure dressing removed. I think they said I only have one long incision due to the proximity of the tumour to my lymph nodes. Still having blue wee and have a very pretty blue (dye), yellow (iodine) and very purple (bruising) boob!
i still have the strange antiseptic taste in my mouth and I’m having trouble focusing using both eyes together. To read I’m having yo shut one eye otherwise the words seem to move over the page. Am hoping this will wear off with the remains of the anaesthetic. I must smell odd too as the dog is avoiding me!
Hope your CT scan is over now Silverlady, and the rest of you both pre op and post op are feeling ok on this sunny morning.
Jane my lymph node wound and under arm are is killing all my arm pit is bright red and smelly just tried washing with water it’s so sore and tender…might be where the dressings been running…gonna call breast care nurse…when’s your op Jane is you’ve had the dye already ?
I went for my CT scan this morning and apart from feeling a bit dizzy (it’s like my eyes can’t quite focus on one thing for very long without it moving - which is making it very strange typing this) it was o.k.
It did make me chuckle, how once I changed into the top & trousers they provided, all of sudden I matched the walls and chairs, I sort of melted into the background.
They told me how the dye would make me feel warm and that I would probably feel like I needed to wee & this would be normal. So, I’m lying there, for what seems like ages, as the machine was moving over me, thinking how brill my body was as it was being affected by the dye at all, when all of a sudden the Nurse said, " Now Susan we will now inject the dye" and then my ears went hot, I nearly burst out laughing.
I had a lovely Costa & ginger biscuits - yummy. Although, I have just had another coffee now at home and it tastes like I have a coin in my mouth. Yuk.
Been to see Sully film with hubby this afternoon. Expensive trip out. Taxi there and back, nice posh comfy seats. Only downside was the sound of popcorn being munched. Film really good.
Em - you really need to stay away from any suspicious substances. Elephants willies?
Maybe we can get Strudel to tell us more tomorrow when she first comes round & doesn’t know what’s she’s admitting to ?
Hi Mysti, I fancy going to see Sully, it looks good. I hate it when people eat in the cinema- I want to go over & tell them to shut up. It should be banned, surely they can go without food for a couple of hours ?
Movements a bit better today .stitches are really itchy and pulling…can’t wait to have them taken out on thursday, got a physio appt before the surgeons…
