HPV positive and Breast Cancer

Hello,

Due to start chemotherapy on Monday for TNBC and I am begging for there to be no delays! The sooner it starts, the sooner it is done.

Having received a phone call today which suggested I might have Hepatitis B, my head is not in a good place/majorly overthinking. Turns out something was raised but the infectious disease department still classifies my result as negative so no problem.

Then I remembered that I was high risk HPV positive on my smear test since at least 2022 which I unintentionally did not disclose to my oncologist (forgot!). I originally had low grade dyskaryosis, had a baby and it then changed to no abnormal cells but still positive 2023 and 2024.

Should I be worried? Do I need to tell my BCN this information in the hope it makes it to my oncologist? Have others gone through chemotherapy whilst being HPV positive?

Thank you in advance x

Hi loala

Thanks for your post.

It’s understandable you want to get started on your chemotherapy and want to avoid any delays.

However, it’s important that you let your treatment team or breast care nurse know about your positive HPV status before you start your chemotherapy on Monday. Do give your breast care nurse a call or alternatively, you can call the chemotherapy unit and let the nurses know.

It may be possible for your treatment to go ahead as planned, but your treatment team will be able to liaise with your gynaecology team about your individual situation.
