Huge lump suddenly appeared

Can anyone help please last week I felt a lump…it was like it appeared from nowhere, unless I just missed it. Went to drs, they referred me for an appointment, I presume I’ll have scans etc? I’m getting worried about it as it’s so big. It’s on right breast, long about 5cm and 3cm wide…it’s pretty soft but doesn’t move like a cyst…anyone suggest how long my appointment will take and what this might be please?

Hi Stokies

Well presumably the dr referred you to the breast clinic to have it properly looked at, it is usual to get an appointment within 2 weeks.

Mostly any breast changes, whatever the symptoms, turn out to be nothing serious & the vast majority of ladies who come on here get the all clear.

It’s good very been referred, although inevitably it is an anxious time whilst waiting.

As we say a lot on here, general googling is best avoided as it only makes anxiety worse, do come back here if you need to chat further.

I got an referral about 8 days after a similar lump appeared. I had mammograms, core biopsy and fine needle aspiration. I was terrified as my mother had breast cancer at 38 (I’m 46). 10 day wait for results. Horrendous - I won’t lie. Test results revealed normal breast tissue - not benign, not cancerous. Much relief. The cause? Weight loss - I have been on SlimmingWorld and running and had lost fatty tissue that had been covering lumpy breast tissue that had been there for years (I’ve been having mammograms for a few years now). Hope all goes well for you. Horrid situation.

I got my appointment today, 3 weeks after I saw the doctor. This seems a longer time than expected…but hopefully I’ll get a diagnosis soon

Thank you ?
