Hi Ladies
I am looking for any advice
I had my mastectomy and recon in Nov 2010 and my healthy breast reduced and lifted in April 2011
Both scars are the ‘anchor’ type which means they match which is good but on each scar the section ( about 3cm ) in my cleavage has become hypertrophic …red, itchy and ugly!
Obviously the answer would be to dress to hide them but my way of saying “up yours” to BC is to carry on wearing low cut tops and dresses when I am putting on my ‘glad rags’!
I have some camouflage make up which is quite good but comes off on my clothes and makes my scars itch.
I have tried various oils, silicone gel and even had one of them injected with hydrocortisone … but!
Anyone else had this problem?

Hi,
I too had hypertrophic scars across my “breasts” following bilateral TRAM reconstruction.
My PS recommended that I use Mepiform tape.
He warned me that it is expensive to buy (£100 + for a box of 5 sheets) but he told me to look for it on EBay, where you could get it for about £30 - £40.
However, I was fortunate that my GP was prepared to prescribe it for me and it worked well.
It’s not an overnight fix - I wore it constantly for about a year (apart from removing it for showering!)
You cut the strips to size and you are able to use them again after removing for showers etc, until they lose their “stickiness.”
It worked very well for me and I am pleased with the results.
Of course I will always have scars but compared to the red, raised hypertrophic ones they are much improved.
Please feel free to ask anything at all, either here or by PM, I’m happy to help if I can.

Thanks Doxey
I will look into that although my PS said he wasn’t convinced that they helped at all
Almost willing to try anything… but not scar revision!!
