I am seriously considering having everything removed, but just wanted a little advice on the procedures from those who have had it done? What was your recovery time? How did you feel afterwards? What were your pain levels like? How are you now and what medication do you need to take?
I know it’s the right thing to do, and my common sense tells me that I should have it done, but I just wanted to hear from those of you who have had it done!!
Hi Poannie
There’s quite a few ladies on here who have have the op for removal of ovaries so I’m sure you’ll get some feedback soon. Just to let you know that I opted for radiotherapy ablation last November as an alternative partly because I thought I might have problems with keyhole surgery and partly because I (and my onc) wasn’t keen to have a General Anaesthetic at the time due to heart palpitations. Can give more info if you want.

I am 10 days post op having ovaries removed by keyhole surgery.
I am very tired and still sore but feel releived I have had it done now.
I was advised to keep my womb as it helps with support! All this journey is horrible but slowly and surely I feel it was the right thing to do to give me the best chance.
Good luck with yr decision and msg me anytime

From working on a gynae ward it may well be best to keep your womb as it helps support your bladder and women can have trouble continence wise if its taken.
I decided to have the lot out in feb this year as a preventative, im 34 and dont regret having it done. I went into hos on a friday and was out monday morning and back driving and doing normal household things after 3-4 weeks it was sore at the beginning. Im now on Tamoxifen but they are wanting to change me to Arimidex. I dont have any trouble at the minute with my bladder but i was warned of this too, i just make sure i do plenty of pelvic floor exercises each day.
Hi, sorry topost another question on someone elses thread, but thought some of you might be able to help me.
I had Oophorectory in December last year, dont regret it, but just wanted to ask if anyone has had stitch like pain in the side afterwards? I have, not all the time, but most days, not in agony with it, just there. I am,of course, diagnosing myself with liver mets most days.
I know you will all say get it checked out, but I go on holiday soon and just dont want to know before then if its anything worse.

I have also just had my ovaries and tubes removed and can’t believe how ‘easy’ the op and recovery have been! I woke up expecting pain like after having WLE & node removal, but I had no pain at all, a little discomfort if I moved, but nothing if I was resting. The incisions were tiny and not at all problematic. I was signed off work for 2 weeks, but could of gone back after 1,(I felt a bit of a fraud as I was totally mobile and doing just as much as usual - just not at work. (I was advised not to drive for a week) I am back at work now (my op was 5th June) and it’s hard to believe that I’ve recently been in hospital.
I went to the breast clinic today to discuss medication and I have been told to continue with Tamoxifen until the end of July (I will have had my 2 years by then!) and I will then go on Exemestone for the next 3 years.
I am still waiting for the menopause to kick in! keeping my fingers crossed it won’t be too bad.
Hope that this has given you advice that you need,
Thank you all for your comments and advice. I know it’s the right thing to do, and after reading your comments, feel that a hysterectomy may be one step too far. An oompherectomy is on the cards though.
I get my MDT results back tomorrow, with a treatment plan hopefully. I’ll discuss it with my onc when I see him, prob next week.
