I am being dramatic

Hi, I have never done anything like this before but just wanted some advise. I am 32 with over the muscle implants (2 years+). I have been experiencing a sharp like electric blot pain in my left nipple and across the middle of my breast for around 6 weeks which has become more regular. The top of my left breast is swollen and the nipple appears “droopy” but no skin changes or lumps. I breastfeed all three of my children and I stopping feeding my youngest 2.5 years ago but “milk” now leaks while asleep or on pressure but it’s not blood stained.

My gp confirmed all my of the above and booked a non urgent referral to the breast clinic. Stating it was just to check the implant was playing ball. I expected to wait 6-9 weeks however have been given an appointment within the two week time frame.

This make me feel guilty because I don’t have any tell tale signs of breast cancer and I feel like a fraud for stealing someone else’s appointment. I feel I will be embarrassed when I go for seeming dramatic and wasting the amazing staffs time plus depriving the appointment was someone who needs it more.

should I rearrange the appointment for a few weeks given my situation is not urgent but I do need to know if something is going on because I am in pain and it seems to be travelling into my shoulder and arm?

Hi

Please dont fret its important to get it checked, breast cancer isnt always the lumps/ more commonly known points. There is clearly something a miss what ever it is you need to know now for the sake of you and yours.
The appointment woulnt be fiven if not available and if a more serious case comes in they have statergies to allow them to be seen.
Be kind to yourself and good luck.

Hi @unknown01 go to your appointment and don’t feel guilty. It is highly unlikely to be something suspicious but you need to know for your peace of mind and the initial appointment will be like 15 minutes or something so not “wasting” very much time. Just one for the future - it is important to get into the habit of knowing your body and, if something unusual does not clear up over 2-3 weeks, to go and get it checked out. 15 minutes now could save you and the health service a hell of a lot more time in the future by catching stuff early. Good luck and hope it gets resolved quickly.

You are in no way being a fraud as the symptoms you describe could indicate cancer. Hopefully its something else, but like anyone, you don’t know until its investigated. There probably aren’t any offical ‘non-urgent’ appointments that exist as all symptoms are seen as having a need to be seen within 2 weeks. Nobody knows it is or isn’t cancer until assessed.

Thank you all for taking the time to set my mind at ease. I am naturally an optimist person so generally didn’t think of the possibility of anything sinister. I’m glad I have the appointment and looking forward to finding the reason behind the pain ect so I can move on. Thanks again and I hope you are all well!
