I had an appointment at the one stop clinic for a breast lump, my doctor said it didn’t feel sinister but would send me anyway. The nice people at the clinic gave me an ultra sound and took a couple of biopsys. When I went back to see the consultant he said they thought it looked like cancers from the ultrasound! I guess I keep thinking that I’m 32 and there is no history of anyone in my family having breast cancer. I was so convinced that it was a lump that had come up because I stopped having that awful contraception injection and i noticed it the same time my periods came back.
Hi Tortoisegirl
I am sorry to read you’re having a tough time at the moment, I’m sure some of the other users will be along soon to offer you their experiences and support. In the mean time if you need some additional support do give the BCC helpline a call on 0808 800 6000. Here you can talk through your feelings and concerns with a member of staff who will offer you a listening ear as well as emotional support and practical information. The lines are open Monday to Friday 9 to 5pm and Sturday 10 to 2pm.
Best wishes Sam, BCC Facilitator
Dear Tortoisegirl,
I am so sad that you are in this position. But what you are feeling is perfectly normal. It doesn’t seem real at all. I’m 62 (61 when diagnosed) and had surgery, chemo and now on a tablet for at least 5 years, and there are times when I also feel as though it’s not real, even after all I have gone through. But whatever the result, you will get through it. We surprise ourselves at our inner strength and resourcefulness. And there are hundreds of ladies (and men) on here, just like you and I, who will offer you support whenever you need it.
Sending hugs and best wishes
