I’m still writing my DCIS my story

Let’s start at the beginning 1996 at age 19 and pregnant I had a lump the size of a quarter removed from my left breast ( benign)2017 at age 40 and my 1st mammogram two large calcification 5 cm and 7 cm was documented ,my doctor had me come in every 6-9 months during a 4 year period for ultrasounds to my left breast, they always noted possibly benign. After 4 years I went every year. Never was told it could be DCIS at that time .In hindsight I should have asked more questions .May 2026 I switched insurance and my new doctor had me do a biopsy to my left breast because of the calcifications I wasn’t worried because I knew they was there and in the moment I felt it wasn’t really necessary but I did it anyway. June 29 2026 I was diagnosed with DCIS high grade hormone negative. I was spinning. Now I in a world wind and all I can think is I have a what and that’s been there are you sure!! On August 21,2026 double mastectomy and implant reconstruction surgery. Today 3 1/2 weeks after surgery I’m still healing my chest have a burning sensation I feel and don’t feel at the same-time. My pathology report no lymph node involvement no upgrade pure DCIS 13 cm . So of if I wonder could I have kept my tumor? My mastectomy was nipple sparing Goldilocks with implants 600 cc that I feel under my arms .
