I need advice

Hi, I’m an Asian, a mother of 4-year-old twins girls and I’m 31. I started being concern about breast cancer since last year after I read a blog of a BC patient. I do self-check breast every month because I’m very concious about BC. Anyway I don’t have any family history regarding BC. Last year when I had my pap smear test, I had my breasts checked too (just by physical touch, no scan, no mammo) . Everything is normal.

But for the last few months, I experience dull pain in my left breast which also radiated to my left arm and shoulder. It gets worse a week or so before my period. My left breast and the nipple is always bigger than my right breast as long as I remember and I notice that the size is much bigger after I breastfed and stay the same way until now.Is that normal?

Should I see GP for this reason?

Dear Nemo,

It’s always worth checking with your GP. But don’t panic. Most things are benign.

Best wishes,

Sue

Hi Nemo - I am with Sue on this one. Get to the doctors as soon as you can, it’s the only thing to put your mind at ease. You will drive yourself la-la otherwise!

Good luck and let us know how you get on.
