I need life insurance - any ideas?

When we paid off our mortgage earlier this year, our life insurance ran out. We have been delaying getting new policies, however my husband now seems to be sorted, however the company he has gone with won’t insure me and have said it would be easier for me if I was over 50.
I was dx in 2009 with grade 3 BC. Full treatment regime later and I am doing well.
Anyone got ideas on who might be able to offer me insurance?

Hi CMW2

Sorry you haven’t had any replies to your question as yet, and hopefully someone will now see your post and reply.  In the meantime our helpline staff may be able to assist if you would like to give them a call 0808 800 6000 lines open weekdays 9-5 and Saturdays 10-2 (the helpline will be closed on New Year’s Day)

Kind regards

It will very much depend on your individual stage and treatment.

If the cancer was not advanced and all treatment was completed in 2009 you should be able to get cover, but at some cost.

Best thing to do is to contact a broker. Some specialise in cases like this. You can look on a website, unbiased.com which will help you find a broker, it should be possible to contact them by phone.

I suggest you go to an IFA who can look at different insurance companies for you or you will be forever filling in application forms. They can also call them with your medical history first to see whether the underwriters will look at covering you. They may do so but exclude cancer, or load the premiums. Good luck x
