Dear annaly73

Welcome to the BCC forum.  While you are waiting for other members to come along and respond to your post I wondered if you had seen our fact sheet on IDC.  I have attached a link for you:

Hi Annaly73. Sorry to hear your diagnosis. I was dx with the same August last year and had a mastectomy. You will get through this. How is your treatment going?

There’s lots of support on these forums if you need it:)

Hi annaly73,

I was diagnosed in Nov and had a lumpectomy in Dec. Unfortunately margins were not clear and as I had 2 lumps I was strongly advised to have a mastectomy.  Am going in for mast with diep reconstruction 5 Feb. Fortunately lymph nodes are clear so I’m not expecting to have chemo/radio to deal with after.  So, if you want any info / reassurance / support  about anything i’ve had done so far I am happy to share this with you, as i’m sure are many other ladies on this site.  Take care. Xx

Hi Annaly

Hi, Invasive ductal carcinoma is one of the most common Breast Cancers there is. You are in very good company, but I know that is no reassurance.

I was dx with IDC on November 1st 2012. I had mastectomy on 12/12/2012 and 3 lymph nodes removed. I had chemo between February 5th - May 23 2013 and I’m now on Tamoxifen. I had my first annual mammogram on good side in December 2013 and breast check this Wednesday. I am now NED (no evidence of disease) so hopefully will remain that way for a very long time to come. I’m feeling really good with my situation right now,

Whatever treatment you will need, I hope it will go as well as mine did, with very similar results. It might seem a long way off, but you’ll be surprised at how quickly the time goes - once all the waiting is over!!
