Hi everyone.
I a rads -lady but my friend is having chemo (not for breast cancer) and I wondered if you could give me some advice? We don’t usually do presents bit I want to give her something as she is having a bad time. I just not sure what as she can’t taste most food, smellies are difficult and she can’t concentrate enough to read. Any ideas gratefully received.

wendy If you take a look at the starting the pink road of chemo page 2 there is loads of chemo tips and ideas to sort out side effects why not make her up a little chemo caddy with some of the must-haves like sherbet lemons , mouthwash,bonjela, aqueous cream lip balm Buff head wear etc etc .Also i used eyelash serum from boots ( rapid lash) to help stop me loosing them its expensive but Avon have one on special £5 at the minute.Crabtree and Evelyn summer hill hand cream is lovely if shes having chemo that effects nails Biosen alluminium free deoderant from boots etc also bodyshop have lovely red microwavable heated slippers like little booties having just finished chemo and rads myself i would have appreciated any of the above hope it gives you some ideas xx Julie
Make-up, esp. for eyes/brows is something I’d be happy to get. Hot water bottle is a good idea, as Julie says - I’d avoid the wheatie ones that you microwave, because they do give off an odour, and if she’s having problems with nausea/smellies, then that might not be great for her. A selection of old fashioned sweets is a good dual purpose gift - great for chemo days, and equally good for helping with metallic taste/nausea after chemo - think peardrops/sherbert lemons/cola cubes/pineapple chunks.
Don’t forget that the very best gift in the world is a well-timed hug and an ear to listen with… and I know you have that.

I already gave her a chemo caddy (stole ideas from you lot!) but perhaps I’ll top it up and add the old fashioned sweets (might have to test them though first!)
I definitely remember to give a hugs, visits and phone calls as I enjoy them too!
