hi , havant posted for a while but just wanted to chat with people that understand . i have been so miserable with this chemo , ( am on xeloda and taxotere ). have had 3 rounds , first one put me in hospital with a serious infection for 6 days with no white cells left , the second had me in bed here at home with jelly legs and complete exhaustion etc and this one must be a build up of the xeloda as i have severe hand and foot which i have been unable to walk all weekend ! have tried so many creams , b6 etc , so will be on to oncology this am .
i also have really runny eyes all day and am waiting for eye clinic to ring back . oh and top of this i had to have a blood transfusion last tuesday as was so anemic . i have been such a sod to live with esp this weekend , tantrums , tears , shouting just feel so sick of it all , i know i should be really happy as after i had had 2 chemos my tumour markers have dropped from 1300 to 275 and my liver enymes are now almost normal . i had androymicin in feb this year and my liver tumours shrank to 5% , then i had a 3 month break and my liver tumours went wild ! has this happened to anyone? we aew now looking at getting them down as small as poss again and doing RFA , but have been looking at some of the posts here and see that there are other alternatives which also look very encouraging .
anyway sorry to go on and on , hope everyone else is feeling better than me !!
love and hugs Tracy xxxxx
by the way i started xeloda at 2000 twice a day and now on 1800 twice a day so have already had the dose reduced , i am 5 feet 8 and around 12 stone so i think this is about right so maybe its the combination of taxotere with the xeloda?
Can’t help you with the xeloda, but Taxotere can give you runny eyes. My eyes were really bad for a few days each cycle, like I was peeling onions, and generally runny all the time. They didn’t really get better until after I had finished all cycles of tax.
Weirdly enough Xeloda can give you watery eyes as well -maybe it is the combination of the two.
My eyes are sometimes watery first thing in the morning (am only on Xeloda) but not always!
I’m on a reduced dose as well but mainly because my oncologist says my liver wouldn’t cope with the full dose.
I’m 5’ 7" and 9 stone so not sure what my ‘normal’ dose should be but I know, like you, that they normally work it out according to weight, height etc.
Just adding a bit here - I get watery eyes for a couple of days on some cycles. i don’t know if there is much you can do about it, but it will stop in a few days. Sorry you are feeling so down. I must say I have been a bit low too. I think the wintry days don’t help. Just hope it helps you a bit to write it all down and that you pick up soon!
Hi Tracy,
Sorry to here you feel down in the dumps, but you are doing so well to get your tumour markers down so quickly, that is excellent news. Don’t know if this helps but i’ve had a constant runny nose & eyes since August when I started my chemo. Its a real pain. I am looking forward to next week when the chemo finishes.
Take care,
Allie
You are allowed to be in a grump, you are so allowed, you shouldnt be hard on yourself and say that you are hard to live with - i would like to see people try living with this!! I am really glad that you markers have come down so much after 2 chemos, thats great, and BTW I have a constant runny nose as well!!!
