I'm back after hospital stay.

Hey lovely ladies,

Just got home from hospital after being in since 7th november. I had a chest infection, 3 lots of antibiotics none of which worked and i just steadily got worse and worse. Temperature hit 38.7 so i got my self up to the hospital. They did a white blood cell test and they were only 0.23 which apparently they need to be 1.0. On the mend now though but i am due chemo again on monday. I am assuming they may put me off for another week just to give my body a chance to recover fully. I am sort of glad as could do with another week but this puts my last chemo back to new years eve! i definately don’t want any more delays as i want the chemo finished in 2007. So I can count 2008 as a recovery year not a treatment year.

Hope all you ladies are still doing well and battling on with your chemo and all the horrible side effects that you all cope so admirably with.

HI Gaynor,

Glad to hear that you are now home. Take it easy and good luck for Monday. Are you the lady who live in Swindon, if so positive thoughts sent to you up the A419.
I am waiting to hear back from Ct scan whether nodule on lung is still there hope it is as have had 3 FEC and don’t want it to be a secondary. Results Mon.

Take care

Hi Gaynor
I’ve just posted a thread moaning about getting an awful throat infection but it’s nothing compared to what you’ve been through. Hope you’re feeling much better now and your chemo goes ahead on NYE so you can look forward to 2008.
Best wishes, and keep well
Tracey xx

Hi Gaynor

Well looks like we have been in the same boat. I had a temp of 38.2 on Friday 9 and was admitted to hospital. My white cells were 0.08 and was on antibiotics for a week. Came out on Thursday night, although temp still fluctuating, but all my urine and blood tests were clear and my white cell count back to over 4.

I have chemo due on Wednesday, my last taxotere and as long as my bloods are OK, they will go ahead, although am very nervous as dont wanna end up back in hospital. I missed my little boys 1st birthday on 13th and my daughters 4th birthday is on 3rd December, so am so scared that will end up missing that too. Keeping myself cocooned indoors for about 3 weeks now I think, to avoid infections. Reckon all them baby groups are probably my downfall!.

I hope you are feeling OK today. I am very tired, but trying to take it easy. Hope you can rest lots and are on the mend.

Wishing you well.

zjlove, yes Swindon, well remembered, thanx for the love from Cirencester.

misty42, thank you, i am sure we all just need a nice month of cold weather to kill off all these awful coughs and throat infections, there seems to be so many around and people taking ages to recover even the healthy ones, let alone us poor ladies with no immune defences.

dm1968 oh dear, sorry to hear you’ve been ill too, its not fun is it, although the total bed rest in hospital was well received! I can’t seem to ignore that pile of ironing, even when i am feeling ill!!!.
Like you very tired but definately on the mend so I am going to do the same as you and keep well away from the general public and sick people and stay cocooned indoors and get myself well and strong to get my last 2 cycles done and dusted.
