hello everyone
i’ ve been reading alot of your posts and you all seem a nice friendly bunch, so i thought i’d say hello with the hope you can make me feel a bit better. I have had a lump in my right breast for quite a few months now, and plucked up the courage to see my gp last week, who agreed i have a lump, she also said it didn’t feel attached, does anyone know what she meant by that?. Everything has happened quick now as i’m to see a breast surgeon this thursday, so am extremely worried now. gaenor xx

A cancerous lump is usually attached to some underlying structure such as muscle, etc. A lump that doesn’t feel attached may be benign like a cyst, so that would seem a good sign that your GP says its not attached. However, your doctor is doing the wisest thing sending you for screening to rule out cancer as its impossible to make a diagnosis from feeling it alone. Remember 9 out of 10 lumps are benign, so lets hope you are in that category. Good luck for Thursday.
