I'm trying arnica cream on my veins

Hi

I’ve used arnica tablets and cream (homeopathic remedy) for years. Tablets for shock after accidents, major trauma, help relieve the stiffness of unusual physical exertion. Cream for more localised bruising.

Became convinced of its benefits when I took it before and after having 3 wisdom teeth out under general anasthetic 20yrs ago (with hosp permission). My case was quite severe - x-rays made them raise their eyebrows. operated on by the same team that did all the others that morning and I had hardly any swelling or bruising - compared to some that looked like blue hamsters.

Had mx and LD recon end of Jan. For some reason didn’t take arnica - think I was too caught up in the enormity to think about it. Surgery went fine and recovery good - v little pain - but I did get a seroma on my back that had to be drained several times and was becoming a drag.

Suddenly thought about arnica tabs - read the leaflet and it said it could reduce fluid build up round joints and so gave it a go. started taking it the morning of a drainage session - 200ml removed - continued for a week and a half after - no further build up! Could be coincidental - seromas can just resolve themselves.

WARNING - if are thinking of trying the tablets ensure you check with your consulant 1st - while they are available in the supermarket here, the Americans seem to think they can be highly dangerous!

I’ve now got some cording and inflamation of my veins from 3 x fec chemo sessions, checked with chemo nurse today and she thought that arnica cream might help.

I’ll keep you posted.

I too used arnica tablets (Homeopathic)after one wisdom tooth removal and my dentist was very surprised that I didn’t get the bluehamster look. My veins are hurtingfrom chemo so will see if the nurse knows anything today.

This is interesting for two reasons.

Although my veins no longer hurt (having been massaging with Vit E oil and witch hazel gel twice daily) I still have the cording track lines running down my arm. Nurse today said that alo vera gel is also good but the cording may not ever go completely :frowning:

Also, I have mild Lymphoedema and I wonder if arnica could also be useful for this as it reduces fliud build up. Will do some research.

It would be good to know if you notice a difference with the cording.

A conventional cream that others have used is called Hirudoid, in case the arnica doesn’t do the trick and you get desperate.

Hi Chocciemuffin

My veins aren’t too bad - made sure I kept stretching my arm when they first started tightening up and now I have full movement and no pain. Only one that’s swollen and discoloured - having been used for 3 fec, it didn’t play ball on Tues and we had to pick a new victim!

Early days yet - I’ll keep you posted.

Update

About a week on and the vein that was swollen and discoloured is a lot softer and not nearly as prominent.

Can still see the cording, but can’t feel it pulling.

I’m not making any claims - swapped on to Tax last week, which is a bit easier on the veins - but I am going to continue the arnica.
