Immediate Autologous LD Reconstruction or Nothing?

Hi Everyone

I’m new to the forum. I’ve been diagnosed with ILC and DCIS and have been offered mastectomy with immediate reconstruction + endocrine treatment. Having had a meeting with my surgeon the plan is to have an autologous LD flap. I’m now starting to worry that my back and shoulder will be compromised. I’m 61, slim (which is why DIEP/TUG isn’t ideal for me) and I do a lot of walking, cycling and gardening (of the heavy sort). I worry that I won’t be able to continue with these activities if I have LD reconstruction and so am considering not having any sort of reconstruction, at least for the time being.

I wondered if there is anyone out there who has the same sort of pre-surgery background as me (as regards build and activity) and how they have faired with having immediate LD post-surgery.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!
