high i was told today i could have immunity injections to build up my immune system. i am having 7 inj daily given at home and starting on day 5 after chemo. i was just wondering if anyone else had been offered these and any effects good or bad. thanks Julie
Hi Julie
I was given something yesterday - was due to have third chemo session but it got cancelled due to low immune system.
I have had 2 injections out of 5 so far and they are making me more tired than the chemo so something is definitely happening!
I was told I may have flu-like symptoms (shivering and joints aching) but have been asleep and feeling fine.My doctor did say that I could take paracetamol but no need yet.
The chemo thing is frightening and worrying at the beginning but once you get used to it you will be fine. It’s surprising how quickly we have all adapted.
If anything unusual happens then I’ll logon and let you know - so no news will be good news.
Which drug is it?
Enjoy your sleep!
Lots of love

Hi Julie
I have had two TAC chemos so far and each time I have been given the seven injections of Lendgrastim (Granocyte) starting on the fourth day after chemo. The District Nurse comes to give the injection in either my thigh or abdomen. I have had no ill effects whatsoever. She always stays for a few minutes to make sure I am OK but I have had none of the possible side effects. If you go onto the cancerbackup site they have a fact sheet on G-CSF (granulocyte-colony stinulating factor) which is what these injections are. It explains exactly how they work etc.
Hope this helps
