Immunisations

Hi all! hope everyone has had a lovely Christmas.

Just a quick question, I was walking (socially distanced of course) with a friend today. They asked if I would need to restart my immunisations again, including the childhood immunisations, since I’ve been through my chemotherapy. I was clueless. No one has ever talked to me about whether my immunity to things such as measles, mumps and rubella would be lowered. It had never even crossed my mind. The reason it’s got me worried is that I’m a veterinary nurse so I’m required to keep my tetanus vaccination up to date. Am I required to under go these immunisations again?

Any info would be gratefully received. Thank you xx

Hi Mousey

I was told my immune system would recover by 4-5 weeks after finishing chemo. BUT since we all have different treatment regimes, it would be sensible to ask your breast care nurse who can check your blood counts etc. The only vaccinations mentioned for me were flu jabs.

Hope that helps x
