Implant Reconstruction and Climbing

Implant Reconstruction and Climbing

Implant Reconstruction and Climbing I am a new user of this forum so hope I get this right. I am an active 48 year old, have had a lumpectomy for a smallish invasive mixed tumour (no node involvement) followed by Chemotherapy to improve my stats for survival and decrease recurrance. My next treatment would be radiotherapy or … I am considering prophalactic double mastectomy as I am concerned that the screening offered may not pick up any new primary if it is lobular ca. I think I may need the peace of mind that this may offer me.

I would be in an either /or situation re radiotherapy and need to get a move on with my decision as radiotherapy would obviously affect the results. (last chemo on 27th March so radiotherapy due a month after)

I am in a different position to most who write here about prophalactic mastectomy - this is coming from me not the medics but they have said that they would consider it given my concerns and the fact that they could not offer MRI scanning on the NHS.

One of my major considerations is that I climb regularly and this gives me a great deal of pleasure. Has anyone who climbs had this surgery done and what was the effect on climbing?.
